Aloha 'Aina . . . . what that really means to us

If you've followed us from the start of SFA, you know that almost everything we do is inspired by Hawai'i, our heart home. While we enjoy the paragliding, the dolphins, its water and beaches . . . . what it's really about for us is the connection to the 'aina . . . . to the land. We often say "Aloha 'Aina", love of the land, to express this connection. (These are some of the very 1st words we said to Sekai.) Those who feel this see the 'aina as an elder and as such, how can you not take care of your own mother or father as they have taken care of you?

We are elated as right before our eyes, we see the planet growing on Hawai'i. At the same time, we are saddened that it has been and will be used primarily for commercial purposes, tourism, the building of telescopes, or the testing of new GMOs. While we resonate the most with the islands, "Aloha 'Aina" applies to any land - no matter where it is! - and the respect, honor, and love you have for it.

We feel the video below, both from scientific and traditional perspectives, inspires us to share this message with you. And if you enjoy it, please visit "Our Inspiration" on our website to see others who have as well.
